As a freshman at Newton High School, Brodi Roath is already making an impact through her energy, competitiveness, and passion for the game. A two-sport athlete competing in both basketball and volleyball, Roath is quickly establishing herself as a player to watch as she begins her high school career.
Her first basketball season provided several memorable moments, including a milestone team victory and a dramatic game-winner that showcased her poise under pressure. Beyond the big plays, Roath found joy in the everyday experiences that come with being part of a team.
“Some of the highlights from this past season is when we won our first game and getting the buzzer beater to win. I also love our tradition of team dinners before every home game.”
Roath’s motivation comes from within, fueled by a desire to build on what she has already accomplished while continuing to grow as an athlete.
“What motivates me is looking back on all of the things that I have accomplished which pushes me harder everyday.”
She also credits her parents as major influences, especially her dad, whose experience and guidance have helped her navigate challenges both on and off the court.
“My biggest influences are my parents who have supported me since day one, specifically my dad because he’s been in my shoes and he gives the best advice.”
Representing Newton is something Roath takes seriously, embracing the sense of community and support that comes with wearing her school’s jersey.
“It means a lot to me to represent my school because even though we are a big school everybody knows everyone and everyone loves to support all of Newton high’s athletics. I also want to make a legacy in Newton for my brothers to look up to.”
Through both highs and challenges, Roath leans on a strong support system that keeps her grounded and motivated.
“What motivates me to keep going is my amazing support system with my friends that I have made through sports and school who have supported me through my journey.”
With a dedicated mindset, strong family support, and early success, Roath is laying the foundation for a promising high school career.
