Field Kindley High School senior wrestler and student-athlete Trenten Akins spoke to VYPE SPORTS in a recent interview.
VYPE SPORTS: What are your personal goals for the year?
Akins: Primarily, just to make it to state.
VYPE SPORTS: What is your favorite athletic memory?
Akins: The first football game back from my injury.
VYPE SPORTS: What teammate has left the biggest impression on you and why?
Akins: Deontay Galindo – because we have been teammates in football, wrestling, and track for so many years.
VYPE SPORTS: What is your favorite part of being on this team?
Akins: Having the same coach I’ve had all my life. He was there for kid’s club, middle school, and high school.
VYPE SPORTS: What accolades (in any sport or activity) are you most proud of?
Akins: Being named all around MVP in football.
VYPE SPORTS: What has your sport taught you that you use in your daily life?
Akins: Discipline. It’s such a tough sport, and it demands self-discipline, but that helps in every area of life.
VYPE SPORTS: What is the best advice that anyone has given you?
Akins: That’s simple.Learn how to control yourself.
VYPE SPORTS: Who inspires you and why?
Akins: I watch Bo Basset a lot and strive to wrestle more like him.
