Erie High School senior basketball player and student-athlete Reid Duff spoke to VYPE SPORTS in a recent interview.  Duff averaged 16.8 points per game as a junior for the Red Devils and was named Second Team All-State.

VYPE SPORTS: What are your personal goals for the year?

Duff: My personal goal is to hit my 1,000th point this season.  I would also like to win 2A Player of the Year.

VYPE SPORTS: What is your favorite athletic memory?

Duff: My favorite memory is probably winning Substate and going to State last year in basketball.

VYPE SPORTS: What teammate has left the biggest impression on you and why?

Duff: Ethan Dillinger is my favorite.  We played really well together and were always in the gym pushing each other.

VYPE SPORTS: What is your favorite part of being on this team?

Duff: I really like my teammates and my coach.

VYPE SPORTS: What clubs or campus groups are you involved with and why?

Duff: I go to Galesburg Christian Church.  I am also a member of the Erie Federated Youth Group.  My religion is very important to me. I also play golf and run track for Erie High.

VYPE SPORTS: What accolades (in any sport or activity) are you most proud of?

Duff: Being named First-Team All-League my sophomore and junior years. That meant a lot to me.  I am also proud of being nominated for Second-Team 2A All-State in basketball.

VYPE SPORTS: What has your sport taught you that you use in your daily life?

Duff: To be able to control my emotions.  It’s also taught me how to interact with people in a positive manner.

VYPE SPORTS: What is the best advice that anyone has given you?

Duff: Every shot is a good shot if it goes in.

VYPE SPORTS: Who inspires you and why?

Reid: My dad inspires me a lot because of how hard he works for me and my family. He also inspires me because of how good of a man he is.  It makes me want to be like him, and he pushes me to be better.

VYPE SPORTS: Here is your chance to give a shoutout or say thank you to anyone you wish.

Duff: I want to thank my mom and dad for being awesome, and I also want to thank my grandma, Kathy.
