Parsons’ Landon Rowland – Athlete Spotlight – Presented by Shelter Insurance’s Preston Page

Parson baseball player Landon Rowland spoke to VYPE in a recent interview saying “This team isn’t just a team. Every single one of us I see as family. That’s my favorite part of this team. Most of us started playing together from a young age building that brotherly bond between each and every one of us. Any one of my teammates would do just about anything for each other with no questions asked. This family we have become and the chemistry we all have with each other is overall my favorite part of being a part of Parsons Baseball”.

“My sport has taught me many things for daily living. One thing I have learned from playing baseball that I use in my daily life is how to deal with resilience. With there being a lot of failures in baseball I have learned that not all things go according to plan. Sometimes you get thrown a curveball at the plate and in life. It just depends on how you are going to handle and adjust to it. I have learned that failure isn’t the rock bottom, it’s the motivation to overcome and strive to succeed and be better than before” said Rowland.

He also participates in “helping with the youth parsons baseball players. I mainly help with pitching mechanics and how to properly throw without hurting themselves. I enjoy doing this because I know it’s just a matter of time till they are in my shoes playing for the same name across their chest”.

When discussing what motivates him Rowland said “When I think about who inspires me the most it would have to be my mom. It hasn’t always been the easiest for us but she has always done her best to keep me in good standing. No matter the cost of the money she always made sure I was first on her list. When there was no way I would be able to participate in baseball due to money issues she found a way for me too. She knew my love for the game and always prioritized it. I will forever thank her for the sacrifices she made for me. She has formed me into the person I am today and I wouldn’t do anything to change it”.

“I would like to also shout out my dad for carving my path of love for the game of baseball. He made me into the pitcher I was born to be. He started teaching me how to pitch years ahead of others my age which I believe made me strive to be a pitcher. Without those countless hours of pitching in our driveway, I have no idea what kind of baseball player I would be today” said Rowland.
