Q&A with Coffeyville’s Erin Lopez – Athlete Spotlight – Presented by Shelter Insurance’s Lacey Hodges

Coffeyville runner Erin Lopez spoke to VYPE in a recent interview.

VYPE: What are your personal goals for the year?

My personal goals for this year are getting first in the 100m at state, qualifying for state in the 200m, and hitting a PR of 11.71 sec in the 100m. 

VYPE: What is your favorite athletic memory?

My favorite athletic memory is being able to compete at state in two events as a freshman and getting third place in the 100m. 

VYPE: What teammate has left the biggest impression on you and why?

Teammates who left the biggest impressions on me were Jakayla Johnson-Jones and Brooklynn White who always make me push myself and work harder. 

VYPE: What is your favorite part of being on this team?

My favorite part about being on this team is the support and encouragement I get from all my teammates. 

VYPE: Do you participate in any community service projects?

I’m a member of Junior Advisory Council and this group does many different community service projects. 

VYPE: What has your sport taught you that you use in your daily life?

This sport has taught me that a huge part of everything is your mindset and outlook on difficult situations. 

VYPE: What is the best advice that anyone has given you?

The best advice anyone has given me was to only think of my losses as lessons and grow from them. 

VYPE: Who inspires you and why?

My parents are who inspire me and make me want to keep going because I want to give back for everything that they have put in and done for me.
