Chanute’s Kynleigh Chard – Athlete Spotlight – Presented by Advanced Physical Therapy

Chanute’s Kynleigh Chard was the winner of our “Who Should We Feature” poll. This means that her community voted that they believe she will be something special in the area this season and that VYPE should feature her in our online editorial. When we reached out to Chard for an interview she shared with us details about her life.

Chard told us “My favorite thing about being on this team is that everyone is so welcoming and so willing to step up and take on roles to make each other better, over the last 4 years I have gotten to know this team better than my other sports teams, we are all so supportive and treat each other like family”. She went on to speak about her coach.

“My Coach, Matt Kmiec has inspired me since day 1, he has always known the right thing to say when I get frustrated or I’m struggling in an event, he is always positive about everything and is the man that has made me grow so much stronger in my faith as in athlete. Coach Kmiec started coaching has head coach my freshman year, so we have been there with each other since day 1, Kmiec has made such an impact on mine and my families life, I couldn’t be more grateful to have him as my coach” said Chard.

Also participating in StuCo and FCA, Chard says her goals this season are “to go to state track in 4 events, to place top 3 in my hurdle events, and top 8 in my other 2 events”. As she works toward this she will be bringing with her all she’s learned. Sharing “All the sports I’ve been involved in have taught me communication, the ability to listen, awareness of others strength, and most importantly patience and development of resilience when things don’t go as planned”.
