Fort Scott baseball player Rocco Loffredo completed an interview with VYPE.
VYPE: What are your personal goals for the year?
My personal goal for this year is to get honors In all league and all state. Also to get better overall with my skills and be better than I was last year.
VYPE: What is your favorite athletic memory?
My favorite athletic memory was last year when our team took a trip for spring break south to get some work in, in some colder weather. I enjoyed being able to bond with my teammates and coaches as we got in good work and had a great time.
VYPE: What teammate has left the biggest impression on you and why?
Spencer Goldston is one of my teammates who has left a good impression on me. I’ve played with him since I was little and we work together almost every day pushing each other to get better. If I ever need someone to get work in with at the stadium, Spencer’s my guy.
VYPE: What is your favorite part of being on this team?
My favorite part of being part of this Fort Scott Tiger baseball team is just the atmosphere everyone makes, it’s just a group of best friends playing their favorite sport together joking around but also getting quality work in. What’s better than that?
VYPE: Do you participate in any community service projects?
At school, I’m in clubs where we do community service whenever we can. Also at my youth group we have voluntary activities that I participate in.
VYPE: What Clubs or Campus groups are you involved with and why?
The Clubs I am a part of at Fort Scott are National Honors Society, Student Council, and Key Club.
VYPE: What has your sport taught you that you use in your daily life?
Baseball has taught me to never let anything bring you down and ruin the rest of your day. This plays a part with baseball if you make an error or strike out do not let that bring you down but move on as you will get more chances.
VYPE: What is the best advice that anyone has given you?
The best advice anyone has given me is from my Coach Josh Regan, he says “Work while you wait” This has so much to do with baseball or life. If you’re not where you want to be or haven’t reached your goals yet. Put in the work to get there and work as hard as you can, You will eventually reach those goals. Also to not just enjoy the destination but the journey that got you there, and take on any obstacles in your way and not shy away from them.
VYPE: Who inspires you and why?
My parents inspire me. They are very hard workers and constantly see success from their work. This has affected me as I see how with hard work and dedication, you will see the results you are looking for. And to be patient with life as taking it too fast can get you sped up and you can go head over heels.
