Chanute’s Jordan Duncan – Athlete Spotlight – Presented by State Farm’s Jennifer Dietsch

Chanute’s Jordan Duncan was the winner of our “Most Outstanding Boys Basketball Player Poll”. Meaning his community voted that they believe he will be the best basketball player in the area this season and that VYPE should feature him in our online editorial. When we reached out to Duncan for an interview he shared with us details about his life.

According to Duncan he will be spending the year working “to get all A’s in school and be a leader on and off the court”. As far as playing for the Chanute Blue Comets Duncan shared that his favorite part is “going to Coach Crabtree’s house and hanging out with my teammates and eating dinner while watching basketball games during the season”.

When discussing specific teammates and the way they have impacted him Duncan said the one who has left the biggest impression on him has been “Larsen Koester because he has such a high basketball IQ. Ever since I moved here my freshman year he has always been coaching me up and doing what’s best for the team to be successful”. Of course, Duncan has also learned a lot from people in other areas of his life including Chanute’s Head Football Coach – “Coach Frazell. He’s helped me with my athletics in regards to weight training and he has always been a great mentor to me by modeling how to be a kind and caring person”.

Duncan carries all of these lessons with him as he represents his community through volunteering “with a youth garage sale for the church, and doing chores for the elderly (yard cleanup day)”. She also participates in “FCA, PUPP’s (Peers Understanding Peer Problems), Student Government, the National Honor Society, 4.0 Honor roll, and has received the Citizenship award (sophomore and junior year)”.
