The journey for Reyce Booe, a senior wrestler for the Cherryvale Chargers, has been one of growth, both physically and mentally. From a playtime activity on his living room floor with his father when Reyce was three years old to a chance as a senior to make history on the mat as a 175-pound senior for the Chargers, the road has a been a long, rewarding ride for our VYPE SEK wrestling poll winner.
As a 132-pound freshman, Booe was TVL champ, regional runner-up, and an All-Area Honorable Mention. As a sophomore at 144, he was again TVL champ, but at 34-9, he also won regionals and was named All-Area. During his junior campaign at 165, Reyce was 25-14, Regional Runner-up, and Honorable Mention All-Area. As a senior at 175, Booe aspires to take the next step in his evolution, “I would like to get to 100 wins and become a four-time state qualifier and place at the state tournament.”
However, when asked what he was most proud of, the senior talked about his team, “My primary goal is to be a team leader and a good role model for the younger kids. We took 14 kids to state last season and became back-to-back TVL champs. I am just excited to get back out there with the coaches and teammates I love and have worked hard with my entire high school career.”
When he is not on the mat competing for the Chargers, Reyce also stands out in the classroom, with a 3.68 GPA, and he is active in the school culture. He plays football and is a member of KAY club, a STUCO representative, and is also a member of FCA and the prestigious National Honors Society.
