Kyli Baylor will be entering wrestling season this winter with a focus for her senior year at Chanute High School. A dedicated athlete, Baylor isn’t just focused on wins and losses this year. Her personal goal this year is to maintain a positive attitude, even when competition gets tough, not just for her, but for her teammates as well.
As a teammate, Baylor is just as committed. Her goal as a team is to become a leader on the team. Baylor told Vype Magazine she wants to be able to help others when they’re struggling to learn a move, showing leadership and a strong sense of community. In addition to showing leadership, Baylor is looking forward to team bonding this season and growing closer with her teammates both on and off the mat.
Baylor’s off-season preparation reflects her drive. She’s worked on staying in shape, building her arm strength, lifting in the weight room, and attending camps to sharpen her technique. “I’m proud of how much work I put in,” she says. “It shows I’m dedicated, and I’ve come so far since my sophomore year in both skills and work ethic.”
A multi-sport athlete, Baylor will kick off her high school athletics this year by competing in cross country. Cross Country is a great way to stay in shape for wrestling season, but Baylor’s main sport and focus is on wrestling. In the spring, Baylor will be found competing in track and field, showing her all-around athleticism. After high school graduation in the spring, Baylor plans to attend Baker University to study athletic training and continue wrestling at the collegiate level. She’s excited to become a better athlete and pursue a career helping others in sports.
With her positive attitude, strong work ethic, and commitment to growth, Kyli Baylor is set to make this season one to remember, not just in life but on the mat and on the cross country course as well.
