Seventh grader Bella Farfan is the March 2025 Grand Deardorff State Farm Good Neighbor Student of the Month at Galena Middle School, where she is known as someone who always helps others succeed. 

“Bella’s a well-rounded student who tries her best and works hard at everything she does,” her teachers commented. But Bella has something more. Bella wants other students to succeed as well and often jumps in to help her fellow classmates when they are struggling or when they ask for help. In addition, she comes to class ready to learn and is very well mannered and polite. She is one of the best students we have here at Galena Middle School!”  

In addition, Bella plays volleyball and basketball and is known as a great team player.  

Vype Media interviewed Bella to get her thoughts on being the March Student of the Month.  

Q. How do you feel about winning the Grant Deardorff State Farm Good Neighbor Student of the month?  

I was really surprised when I won because I had no clue what it was! When I found out what it was, I was proud! 

Q. Were you surprised that you won this award?  

Yes! 

 Q. Your teachers nominated you for being a good student who is polite, kind and a team player. They say you always jump in to help fellow classmates when they are struggling or when they ask for help and have an attitude of wanting others to succeed. 
Congratulations!! That’s some high praise! Bella, what drives you to be such a “Good Neighbor” to your classmates & teachers? 

Because my parents have raised me well-mannered and with a Christian based foundation and I know that it is important to always show Christ in what I do. 

Q. What do you want to do in the future when you grow up?  

In the future I plan to go to college but I’m not sure what I want to go for yet. 

 Q. How will being a Good Neighbor figure into what you want to be? 

I feel that no matter what I do in the future it is important to be a good neighbor and show kindness to others. 

We also asked Danielle and Saul Farfan, Bella’s parents, if they were surprised that their daughter won this award.  

“Yes!” Danielle said.” We were surprised because we had no idea that the Good Neighbor Student of the Month award was available at Galena Middle School! Saul and I are very proud of Bella and this accomplishment!
