By Ken Hansard

Baxter Springs High School volleyball player and student-
athlete Kierstan Burggraf spoke to VYPE SPORTS in a recent
interview.

VYPE SPORTS: What are your personal goals for the year?
Burggraf: My goals are to help my team win more games, improve my skills, and be a
positive teammate, so we can have our best season yet!

VYPE SPORTS: What is your favorite athletic memory?
Burggraf: My favorite sports memory is coming back from last season when we
finished 4-34 and then winning our first tournament this year.

VYPE SPORTS: What teammate has left the biggest impression on you and why?
Burggraf: I don’t have just one teammate that has made the biggest impression, but all
of my teammates have really pushed and encouraged me to do my best this season.

VYPE SPORTS: What is your favorite part of being on this team?
Burggraf: My favorite part about being on this team is all the memories and fun we
have while playing the sport we all love.

VYPE SPORTS: What clubs or campus groups are you involved with and why?
Burggraf: I was a member of the JOMO Volleyball Team in 9th and 10th grade (Club
Volleyball Team), and I was a Member of Star Aquila Volleyball Team (Club Volleyball
Team) as a junior. I am a member of the National Honors Society. I am on the straight
A Honor Roll. I have played volleyball, softball, and basketball throughout high school.
I am a member of the Science Club and the Key Club. I am in FCA, and I was CNC
Basketball Honorable mention for the 2023 – 24 Basketball Season and CNC Volleyball
Second Team this season.

VYPE SPORTS: What has your sport taught you that you use in your daily life? Burggraf: Volleyball has taught me to always push myself and to never give up on
something.

VYPE SPORTS: What is the best advice that anyone has given you?
Burggraf: The best advice I’ve ever received is not to dwell on past mistakes, but to
move on and use them as opportunities to learn and grow as a player.

VYPE SPORTS: Who inspires you and why?
Burggraf: My sister inspires me because I grew up watching her play volleyball, which
made me want to play and motivated me to keep improving and to become a better
player.

VYPE SPORTS: Here is your chance to give a shoutout or say thank you to anyone you
wish.
Burggraf: I would like to thank my teammates, coaches, and parents for helping me
work towards my goals and pushing me to be the best version of myself.
