Coffeyville’s Keiton Jones – Football Spotlight – Sponsored by Nutrition Hub – Coffeyville

By Ken Hansard

Keiton Jones, an offensive lineman from Coffeyville’s Field Kindley Memorial High School, is fully aware that he has untapped potential, but that, if he can develop his gifts, then the sky is the limit both for him and for the Golden Tornadoes football squad.  Jones, in his final year with the Tornadoes, is just scratching the surface of his considerable talents, “I’m a very strong and raw player, and I had little to no technique, but I’ve done a lot of position and agility training to fix that.”

Even though Jones admittedly has yet to peak, his peers, opposing high school coaches, and college scouts have all apparently recognized his efforts.  Keiton has been named first team All-SEK League and first team All-State.   Additionally, he has received numerous offers from Division I schools.  Of these accolades, Jones says, “I’m proud of this because I worked very hard to get them.”

Despite the recognition he has received, Jones still places the most importance on the success of the team, “I’m looking forward to seeing all the hard work everyone put in this offseason really come into play.  My goal is to play past the second round of playoffs and hopefully to get my team and myself recognized more.”

Jones realizes that, as a senior, he must take on an increased role for the team, and especially for his younger teammates, “My role is to lead the O-Line and help the younger linemen learn how to play.”

Keiton is a dual sport athlete for the Tornadoes.  He also participates in track and field for Coffeyville, placing third in state in the discus and fourth in shot put.

Jones plans to play football collegiately and, as of this interview, will be announcing his signing commitment to a program in the next few days.
