Q&A with Coffeyville’s Amir Luten – Athlete Spotlight – Presented by Shelter Insurance’s Lacey Hodges

Coffeyville runner Amir Luten spoke to VYPE in a recent interview.

VYPE: What are your personal goals for the year?

My personal goal for this year is to make it to state in Track and Field and get a good 400-meter time. 

VYPE: What is your favorite athletic memory?

My favorite Athletic memory was last year when I had to chase someone down in the 4×4 and I ran a good split time it was 49.5.

VYPE: What teammate has left the biggest impression on you and why?

My Twin brother has left the biggest impression on me because he has always wanted to work out with me and now he and I train to be the best we can be for our family and ourselves.

VYPE: What is your favorite part of being on this team?

My favorite part about being on a team is that you have a really good relationship with your teammates and your coaches and being with them for most of your high school career is really a huge part of my life. 

VYPE: Do you participate in any community service projects?

I helped during the pandemic by handing out food, water, and personal hygiene stuff.

VYPE: What Clubs or Campus groups are you involved with and why?

I used to be involved in JAG- K it helped me with being able to get out of my comfort zone and being able to communicate with people better. 

VYPE: What has your sport taught you that you use in your daily life?

Track has taught me how to run faster and football has helped me learn the game better.

VYPE: What is the best advice that anyone has given you?

“Don’t forget where you came from” and “Don’t stop chasing your dreams and if you have a passion for something you have to do it no matter how long it takes or how hard it is”.

VYPE: Who inspires you and why?

My family inspires me because if I didn’t have them I wouldn’t be where I am today I love them for that.
