Pittsburg Purple Dragons – 2023 Football Team Preview – Presented by Visit Wichita

Pittsburg Purple Dragons

Coach: Josh Lattimer

2022 Record: 7-4

Offense:

When asked what improvements the team needs to make this season to be successful Coach Josh Lattimer said it comes down to just three words “Discipline, Accountability, and Toughness.” Telling VYPE that “communication” is also “the key to success. “We need to train together to gain Team Chemistry. The tighter we are the better we are, the closer we are the better we are. Trust the process!” Lattimer wants the team – including returning starters Noah Rogers, Ayden Davis, Nate Mitchell, TJ Wesley, Webb Fern, Wyatt Rink, Grant O’Doherty, Conner Proffitt, Beau Pasteur, Stone Peery, Gabe Kimzey, Carsen Nickelson, Maverick Caswell, Parker Johnston, and Luis Cancinos – to “trust the process of competing at a Championship level.”

Defense:

Also returning to the team in 2023 are Wyatt Rink who just last year received an Honorable Mention from Sports in Kansas, KFBCA, Covered KSHSAA, and Topeka Capitol Journal, as well as Gabe Kimzey also receiving an Honorable Mention from Covered KSHSAA. With the help of these two players Coach Lattimer says “our running game is going to be a big factor on the turnout of the games we play. Defensively we are going to be able to mix things up to hopefully give teams problems.”
