Columbus Titans
Coach: Blake Burns
2022 Record: 5-6
Offense:
Titan Football Coach and Statistician Blake Burns told VYPE recently of his team “We will win or lose with the way our offensive and defensive line performs. They will set the tone for us on both sides of the ball” also saying that offensively their scheme will be “spread”. According to Burns “The biggest change has to be in how we approach daily/weekly preparation. We have to practice with focus, effort, and intensity to improve daily.” In keeping with that, a few of the offensive returning players will be “Luke Gray (5’7, 150, Sr.), Jace Midgett (6’1, 165, Jr.), and Syler Schuberger (5’7, 155, Jr.) who have previously been “able to limit turnovers offensively and create turnovers on defense.”
Defense:
“The best thing about this team is that we will have no expectations higher than the ones we place on ourselves. We do not return a lot of varsity experience and we will most certainly be picked to finish at the bottom of our league and district. If we choose to look at that as an opportunity for growth and to compete it will be our strength. If we choose to listen to the expectations or lack thereof it will be our weakness” says Burns. Going forward their defensive scheme will be “multiple” and running those plays will be incoming players “Kanyen Smith (6’0, 225, Jr.), Kooper Saiz (6’2, 150, Fr.), and Braun Stone (5’6, 150, Fr.).
